Let’s talk about some awesome places you can elope in Michigan. Michigan might not be the first place on everyone’s mind when you think of an elopement but if you have ever been to Michigan in the Fall, it is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Oh yeah, and we also do have mountains.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

(Northern part of the Upper Peninsula)

Pictured rocks offers a plethora of hiking trails with a ton of waterfalls along the way. There are so many spots to choose from to elope. But the absolute coolest of them all is probably the cliffs edge that you can find on many of the hikes overlooking the pictured rocks arches. This will involve some hiking but it’s totally worth it.

Headlands International Dark Sky Park

(Near Mackinaw City)

This is an absolutely amazing place to see. They have a venue you can rent for events but it is also open to the public. It is right on the lake shore so there is a beach to walk along as well as a very open grassy area to lay out and look at the stars. The reason they call it the dark sky park is because it has zero light pollution so you are able to very clearly see the starts on a clear night. It is absolutely beautiful and must visit even if you don’t elope here.

Mackinac Island

(Up North near the UP)

This is a very pretty island in between the upper and lower peninsula that has NO cars. You can take bikes or a horse & buggy around the island. They have a good mix of city and nature life with an a ton of really beautiful places to see.

Saugatuck Sand Dunes

(South of Grand Rapids)

Most of the places I would recommend are up north or in the upper peninsula, BUT there are a few gems in the lower half of Michigan that are also pretty awesome. We do have the Silver Lake Sand Dunes in Northern MI but there are the Saugatuck dunes in the lower part of MI on the beach. This is a very beautiful place to see the sunset as well as climb the dunes and feel like you’re in a completely different world.
